Retro Summer

Clifton, 1967
Fish Hoek, 1958

 Muizenberg beach, 1953
 Sea Point, 1963
The Little Blue Train, Mouille Point, 1961
Sea Point Pool, 1960

While browsing the lovely Miss Moss blog, (if you haven't looked at it before I recommend that you do!)  I came across these delicious vintage photographs of Cape Town. How marvelous are they? I just couldn't resist re-blogging them as they've got me all excited for summer and all that it brings along with it! If I'm not beaching on one of CT's beautiful beaches on any given summers day, you'll find me happily riding the Little Blue Train, or posing at the Sea Point pool - retro bikini and sunnies to boot.
Right, now to find the perfect pair...

Pssst...Take a look at Etienne Du Plessis' flickr stream for more vintage treats!

Marilyn Metamorphosis

Being Marilyn

Ah! How wonderful does Michelle Williams look in these exquisite Annie Leibovitz photographs? They were taken for the October Issue of Vogue US, for a feature on her upcoming film, My Week With Marilyn, in which she takes on the iconic role of Marilyn Monroe. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article, written by Adam Green, as I have always been a fan of Michelles - ever since her role as Jennifer in my childhood fav, Dawsons Creek. Of course, her love affair with the late Heath Ledger also put her right up there on my list of "Hollywood-starlets-I-would-love-to-be". I am more than excited to see this film about Marilyn Monroe and to witness the glamour and glory Michelle brings to it.

Quoting from the article in Vogue,

"... But the main attraction is Williams, who brings Monroe to life with heartbreaking delicacy and precision without resorting to impersonation or cliché. It’s not hard to see why the film’s director, Simon Curtis, wanted her. “Not only is she beautiful and brilliant,” he tells me, “but she brings such intellect to her work along with an intuitive grasp of character, extraordinary depth of feeling, and a kind of innate glamour—I guess we call it star quality, don’t we? For a director, it’s the dream package.”... "

Alexa goes Bazaar

Images Via studded hearts fashionetc

Oh my! Alexa Chung is cover girl for the October issues of both Harpers Bazaar UK and Harpers Bazaar Australia and wow does she do it well. She is simply stunning. I am in love with the her look for the UK issue; very Twiggy slash Edie Sedgwick - right up my alley. I adore the sixties eyelashes and beehive hairstyle. Those Chanel dresses for the Australia issue are to die for though! Which do you prefer?
